Who We Are
CarpTalkUSA is a community forum for carp anglers across the United States. We are dedicated to the ethical pursuit of carp fishing โ sharing knowledge, celebrating catches, and protecting the fisheries we love.
Carp are magnificent fish. Hard fighting, intelligent, and capable of reaching extraordinary sizes, they offer a world-class angling experience that is vastly underappreciated in the USA. We're here to change that โ and to protect these fish for generations of anglers to come.
Our Commitment to Catch & Release
Every member of CarpTalkUSA commits to practicing proper catch and release. That means:
- Using barbless or de-barbed hooks to minimize injury
- Keeping fish in the water as much as possible
- Using a proper unhooking mat when landing fish
- Wetting your hands before handling any fish
- Returning fish to the water promptly and with care
- Never keeping carp where it is legal but unnecessary
Our Stance on Bowfishing
CarpTalkUSA is unequivocally and permanently opposed to bowfishing.
Bowfishing kills carp and other fish indiscriminately. It is wasteful, ecologically damaging, and represents a direct threat to the fish we dedicate ourselves to protecting. The practice often targets spawning fish, compounds damage to fisheries, and generates unnecessary suffering.
This is not a debate we entertain. Bowfishing is prohibited from discussion except in the context of opposing it. Members who promote bowfishing will be removed without warning.
